From Hotel Towels to Purpose | Sustainable Collaboration with Red Nose Clowndoctors Foundation
Giving Hotel Textiles a Second Life Through Circular Design
At CLOTH'EL, we believe that discarded hotel textiles still hold value long after their original lifecycle ends. Through circular textile design and local craftsmanship, retired hospitality textiles can be transformed into functional, long-lasting products instead of becoming waste.
One of our most meaningful recent projects was created in collaboration with Piros Orr Bohócdoktorok Alapítvány, a foundation bringing joy and emotional support to hospitalized children and adults.
The collaboration began before Christmas, when the foundation contacted us — along with many other companies — asking for support for their work. We wanted to contribute, but instead of offering a traditional donation, we proposed a different kind of collaboration: creating a product with both practical and social value from reclaimed hotel textiles.
Reclaimed Hotel Towels Transformed into Toiletry Bags
For this project, we designed and produced toiletry bags made from retired hotel towels.
The choice of product was intentional. The toiletry bags may become part of hospital care packages containing essential personal items needed during a hospital stay. At the same time, they are designed as durable everyday accessories that can continue to be used long after — whether for travel, wellness, or daily organization.
A practical toiletry bag is something almost everyone needs, and this project allowed us to combine functionality, sustainability, and social impact in a single product.
Sustainable Hospitality Textiles Beyond Their Original Lifecycle
Hotels regularly replace towels, bed linens, and other hospitality textiles to maintain quality standards and guest experience. However, many of these materials remain highly durable and suitable for reuse.
At CLOTH’EL, we work with used hotel textiles and transform them into new textile products through upcycling and thoughtful design. Projects like this demonstrate that hotel towels and linens can have a meaningful second life instead of contributing to textile waste.
This collaboration is another example of how sustainable hospitality and circular economy principles can create positive environmental and social impact at the same time.
Circular Textile Design with Human Impact
What made this collaboration especially important to us was the opportunity to connect textile reuse with care and community support.
The toiletry bags are not simply recycled products. They carry a story of transformation — from hotel textile to useful everyday object — while supporting a foundation whose work brings comfort and joy to people during difficult moments.
For us, sustainability is not only about reducing waste. It is about extending the life of materials, preserving craftsmanship, and creating products with purpose.
Because sometimes, a retired hotel towel can become something much more meaningful than anyone originally imagined.
